INDICATION
Phenylbutazone is a synthetic non-steroid anti-inflammatory agent, which also exhibits analgesic and antipyretic properties (without loss of consciousness). It is especially useful in the treatment of (rheumatoid) dysfunctions of joints, arthrosis, arthritis of different origins and rheumatic disorder of muscles. Painful injury (like luxation, sprain, muscle damage) enzootic pneumonia and in combination with antibiotic treatment, mastitis in Horses, Dogs and Cats.
SIDE EFFECTS
Sometimes kidney damage with haemorrhages or blood dyscrasias may occur (long term treatment), furthermore gastric and enteral irritation and in Horses oedema, erosions of buccal mucosa and necrosis of hepatic veins have been reported, especially after extended doses.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
When used in very young animals with simultaneous administration of other strong protein binding drugs (like salicylates and sulphonamides); Heart, Liver or renal dysfunctions.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Slow Intravenous or deep Intramuscular administration.

| Horses | 10-20 ml per animal I.V. (maximum 5 days). Treatment of racing-Horses should be stopped at least 5 days before the race (dope). Do not use in Horses that may be slaughtered for human consumption |
| Dogs | 1 ml per 15 kg bodyweight I.V. or I.M. Avoid the application of more than 2 ml per injection site in Dogs because of tissue damage. |
